Getting Started with the
Test Kitchen Sandbox

The Test Kitchen Sandbox is where new features roll out first, keeping your production data completely safe. Test Kitchen enrolment has closed — these steps are for customers who already have sandbox access.

Access to Toast IQ Inventory through the Test Kitchen is no longer available.
The product is available for purchase in some districts, and will become more widely available for purchase through to the end of the year. For access questions, reach out to your sales rep or email [email protected]. The steps below are for customers who already have sandbox access.

Complete the Access Survey

Existing Test Kitchen members can fill out the survey to request sandbox access. This helps the team track participants and ensure proper onboarding.

Receive Your Confirmation

Once your survey is reviewed, you will receive an email confirmation granting you sandbox access. Watch for an email from:

Navigate to Toast Tab

Open your browser and go to Toast's web platform. Once logged in, locate the account switcher in the top header — right next to the Toast logo.

Select the "Toast Inventory Test Kitchen (Demo)" account from the header dropdown.

Navigate to Retail & the Item Library

From the left-hand navigation, go to Retail. The Item Library is your central hub — it provides a full overview of every item you stock track against.

Under "Item Management," select Item Library to see all trackable items.

Best Practice: Create Your Own Category
Place all items you want to test in a category group and category you create yourself. Any items left in generic categories are fair game for all Test Kitchen testers — your own categories keep your test data organized and protected.
