Stock counting, invoice scanning, and core purchasing & receiving.

Inventory tracking for modifier-level recipes.

New Retail & International Restaurant Customers
September 2026
All new retail and international customers onboarded to Toast Inventory

Starting September, new retail and international customers will be onboarded directly into Toast Inventory rather than legacy inventory products.

Existing Retail Customers
Jul – Sep 2026
Beta phase — opt in or opt out, based on eligibility criteria

Single-location retail customers with simple retail products (no alternate packages or bundles) can opt in to Toast Inventory during this beta phase. Customers who opt in can also opt back out — this period is designed to gather feedback and validate the experience before a permanent cutover.

October 2026
One-way migration — no ability to revert, based on eligibility criteria

Eligible single-location retail customers will be offered migration to Toast Inventory. Once migrated, there is no path back to the legacy product. Customers will receive clear messaging that the transition is permanent, and that they're moving into a more advanced solution.

The transition is one-way once initiated.

Oct – Nov 2026
Multi-location, MLM, and Shopify customers

Customers with multiple locations, multi-location management (MLM), or Shopify integrations will be eligible to migrate.

Dec 2026 – Jan 2027
Customers with existing alternate packages & bundles

Customers using alternate packages or bundles are last to migrate. This cohort requires the shared inventory and bundles work shipping in September before migration tooling can be finalized.

Existing International Inventory Customers
International
No timeline yet
Self-serve migration only

There is currently no planned migration for existing international inventory customers. Customers who want to move to Toast Inventory will need to migrate their own data. Toast will not assist with data migration directly, but customers can use the available import tooling or leverage Claude to automate the process.

xtraChef Customers
xtraChef
November 2026
Modifier ingredient support ships

xtraChef customers are not eligible to fully migrate until modifier ingredient support is available. This is the earliest point at which the new product reaches sufficient feature parity.

End of 2026
Voluntary migration pilot

A pilot will be offered to xtraChef customers with a migration path that includes: products, purchase-to-product mapping, inventory, account setup, and recipes. Historic invoice data will not be migrated — customers will receive an export of their historic invoices for their own records.

Success criteria: sufficient opt-in rate and high satisfaction scores from pilot participants.

2027 (if pilot succeeds)
Full migration complete

If the pilot demonstrates strong adoption and satisfaction, all xtraChef customers will be ready to go on Toast Inventory by the start of 2027.

Spring 2027 (if pilot fails)
Extended timeline — additional feature parity & tooling

If the pilot does not achieve sufficient opt-in or satisfaction, there will be an extended timeline to close feature parity gaps and improve migration tooling before the spring 2027 marketing GA.
